CEH Survey have a long history of providing coal stockpile density measurements to NSW electricity generators. When combined with our volumetric surveys, we have been providing accurate tonnage reports since the 1970’s. Our active interest in coal stockpile density measurements has seen us work with the authors of ASTM D6347, the only standard in the world for the determination of coal density using the nuclear backscatter method, to develop a methodology which is appropriate for the conditions encountered in the Australian power generation industry. In fact, we are the only company to have tested our calculations against a specifically weighed stockpile of over 240,000 tonnes, an exercise which would be logistically and economically impossible today.
